"PARTIES, PREMIERES, SUPERMARKET OPENINGS..."
·
Ant and I attended BLEU Magazine ( www.thebleumag.com/ ) Publisher Devon Christopher’s BDAY PARTY at GLASS ( www.glassloungenyc.com ). Always good to see my boys. Toyce was in the house – updating us on some of his new, creative pursuits. Stay tuned.
My AUC homeboy Seitu was in the mix. Always good to see him.
And Derrick Briggs of ADTV fame ( www.watchadtv.com ) and co-star for the upcoming film ( www.thanks4findingme.com).
And the business team that manages BLEU – Richard Pelzer ( www.MEGAManagementInc.com ) was in the house. He captured Ant and me… like this:
. Also, Rafael De-Blanco (www.2RsEntandMedia.com ) is responsible for making sure we were in the house for this event.
And he was responsible for yet another event several days later that launched his new website.
He and his business partner Rah-B Welch (who too was celebrating a birthday) represent an impressive cartel of fashionistas and tastemakers.
There's Miss “ America ’s Next Top Model” Nic (who is always of gracious and fun).
Miguel Perdomo (who I adore and talk about all the time here in the blog) was in the house and we hear has just signed on with Sean John and Remy Martin.
Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.
And we got to meet their new client Maya Azucena – storytelling lyricist and soulful, soaring vocalist with such a wonderful personality (www.mayaazucena.com )· It too was great to see our good girlfriend - part owner of my favorite boutique N (www.nharlemnewyork.com/) - Nikoa!
After that set, Ant and I got the chance to do dinner at Maroon's with our sponsor for the night, Theo and a Denver-based friend Ant and I met through Ant’s best friend Manivone Ikey who we hipped to the now-closed Broadway musical "Passing Strange".
Since he was soon to leave NYC to wrap up school in Oklahoma, he wanted to get together with us - so we could compare notes on the life-changing musical. After Maroon's, we all joined Ant's and my friend Ruben and several of our other buddies from Momentum Education ( www.momentumeducation.com ) at a loft set in downtown Manhattan for some social time, which has been blending into my business everywhere I go.
- For example, I took a recent meeting with entertainment wheeler and dealer Terrance Russ. He chose his spot - Osteria Del Circo ( www.osteriadelcirco.com/ ), which was elegant and well-appointed. We dined al fresco as evidenced by this picture taken by our table neighbor Jim Ball, chef and owner of L’enfant Cafe & Bar' in DC ( www.lenfantcafe.com/ ). After our catch up, our evening got a little long in the tooth (I should have gone home), but we folded Ant into the mix (after he got off work) and did a round-up of social stops. First, The Maritime Hotel ( www.themaritimehotel.com ) for more cocktails. Then, karaoke at our spot ( www.karaoke17.com/ ). Then, a little SPLASH afterwards ( www.splashbar.com ). Fun night!
- I also got another social-but-business-like invitation from my good industry girlfriend Renee Warren with Noelle-Elaine Media Consultants (She’s the Elaine in the company name): www.noelle-elaine.com/aboutus.html . Her latest client is Marc Edwards, founder of new internet phenomenon Tribefly ( www.tribefly.com ). Over Mexican goodies from Mazmezcal ( www.mazmezcal.com/ ), Marc explained how it all works. As my nephew put it, it’s a “cross-cultural facebook” that allows the ‘culturally curious’ to share and communicate in a special space. The international travelers that Ant and I are... and aim to continue being... this site will come in handy!!!
