PATRICKRILEYHEADSHOT2.JPGWELCOME to "The Life of Riley" which will include periodic chronicles of pop culture and possibilities that flow out of Patrick L. Riley's day. That's me!!! Through blogging (and soon some other technological features on which I'll keep you posted as they launch), I will pull experiences from my busy life to entertain and inspire all of you. Through this site, I will share my observations and insights.

Some features to look forward to:

1.) "PATRICK'S POP UP(DATES)" will feature stories from pop culture, music, theater, fashion, and the entertainment industry at large.

2.) "The Life of Riley" will also introduce a "take-a-look-at-your-life" section (READ: sort of an advice column), where I will help readers come up with their own questions and answers around what "ways of being" are working (or not working) to have them acheive their respective goals and live their best lives. This section is called "WHO YOU BE?".

3.) Additonally, there will be a free-flowing, organic section called "TESTIFY" from which I will pull from my own life's journey to share and hopefully inspire. Some of the fare may be new musings and experiences. Other times, I may pull from my journals and past sharings to shed light on some uncomfortable truths that I've experienced and that may perhaps play a role in healing someone else's wounds as the real-life experience did for me. From my experience of covering 9/11 as a freelance journalist to courageously coming out (as gay) to my family, "TESTIFY" promises to move those who choose to read it.

4.) And a section titled "PR" (like my initials, but also like "public relations") will include press clips from any coverage I get.

5.) And anytime pictures or video can support an entry (in the blog, and perhaps in the subsequent podcasts, my space, and website), those visuals will keep things aesthetically enrolling. That section will be called "MY TUBE".

11 things to know on Patrick Riley book

Hi folks!!!

Author Patrick L. Riley here --- with a few quick updates to highlight one more delay and a now-postponed ATL book launch for "That's What Friends Are For: On The Women Who Inspired Me" as books now scheduled to ship "middle of next week" - so any day now (within the next week and change). WHEW! THANKS FOR YOUR PATIENCE....and look for me at a city near you as we begin to take the book on the road!

With that, some developments and next events to anticipate:

1. SUNDAY/Tomorrow: Though originally meant to be a stop for my pre-order purchasers to bring their books by for signing, I will still be HOSTING the afternoon stage of 16th Annual Drums Along the Hudson: A Native American and Multic in Inwood Park from 11am - 6pm. It's a FREE and FUN, FAMILY-friendly day! AND WE ALWAYS HAVE A GREAT TIME!

2. ALSO SUNDAY, JUNE 3RD: Buzz on the book inspired The Last Sip hosted by Imara Jones to invite me out to be a guest and to to do some pop culture analysis on the new series Pose FX, the groundbreaking Ryan Murphy-run work that features a leading cast of Trans actors. THE LAST SIP broadcasts into 40 million homes nationwide through Free Speech TV, as well as streamed on Facebook and the FSTV website. For more information on the show:

3. SATURDAY JUNE 9: With my inaugural book club LADIES OF WISDOM in ATLANTA now put on hold one more time, one of my favorite INSPIRING WOMEN is Sidra Smith who has invited me to HOST the evening and intro the PREMIERE of her "Sidra Smith Presents A LUV TALE" in Harlem. The series is based on her 1999 film A LUV TALE (now available on Amazon), imagine - for this reboot - if "Sex & The City" were about FOUR QUEER WOMEN OF COLOR LIVING IN HARLEM! AND GUESS WHAT!? I had the chance to sit in on the table reading of the scripts. THEY - and the amazing cast bringing those words to life - are FIRE:! STAY TUNED!

4. In NYC, we CELEBRATE Wed, June 13th at Cove Lounge in HARLEM. TO RSVP, email us here: COME ONE COME ALL...and PRE-ORDER PURCHASERS WILL HAVE AND CAN BRING YOUR BOOKS FOR ME TO SIGN! We will have MISS JESSIE'S goodies in the house as well!

5. After we launch in NYC, #Denver, Your Soul's Movement, and Anthony Harper are sending for me to HOST a dynamic group of accomplished creative professionals at YOUR SOUL'S MOVEMENT PERFORMING ARTS CENTER Sat. June 16th at 6:30pm. I will steer a critical discussion around men in the state of the arts. This conversation is geared to inspire a new generation of male artists and feature national and local accomplished artists who will share their unique stories and reveal what moves their soul. The overall mission of Your Soul's Movement Performing Arts is to cultivate creativity in the community and we look forward to your support! This event is free and open to the public and family friendly. The panel discussion will be recorded and edited into a video taped series presented by Your Soul's Movement. Please contact 303.284.1553 you have questions regarding this event. Please RSVP via this Facebook event: events/609859069391422/. From Denver to Savannah....

9. And with that, I'm still hoping to find support (or suggestions) on any press/partners/donated venues for book signings/sponsors to off-set tour costs - including discretionary PAYPAL drops: All helps as many are sending for me (and covering lots), but every little bit helps to off-set the many moving parts of being on the road.
